 Exterior Waterproofing

Exterior Waterproofing

During exterior waterproofing, a trench is dug around the exterior of the foundation, down to the footing of the home. All dirt and debris are then cleaned off of the wall so that a waterproofing membrane can be placed onto the wall. Next, a drain tile is placed on top of, or next to the footing of the home. The trench is then filled back up. For more information on waterproofing in the Springfield Il area, give us a call today.

Pros

Stops the problem at the source.

Water never enters into your basement.

Less disruption on the inside of your home.

CONS

 Usually more expensive.

Sometimes not an option due to the location of neighboring homes.

Central Illinois Foundation Repair & Waterproofing, LLC goes above and beyond to keep your basement dry. We install a system of membranes on your foundation wall, which ensures there will be no water penetration. We then install drain tile around the exterior of your foundation.  Around the drain tile, we use geofabric, this prevents the drain tile from clogging. Next, we install dimple board onto the exterior foundation wall. The dimple board creates an air gap between the foundation wall and the soil, in return it allows water to flow freely to the drain tile. To finish off this process we fill the trench back up with gravel. Water can freely flow through the gravel so it can reach the drain tile, which keeps hydrostatic pressure off of your foundation. Hydrostatic pressure is one of the major causes of foundation damage. Our unique method of waterproofing really is the key to keeping your basement dry.

Interior Waterproofing

To waterproof from the interior, we remove a portion of the concrete around the perimeter of the basement. Once the concrete is removed, we install drainage tile routed to a sump pit and sump pump. We then repair the concrete slab.

Pros

Interior waterproofing is usually less expensive

CONS

More disruptive to the inside of your home.

 Not completely solving the problem.
